About Us

KindVet is a Privately-Owned Small Business
Veterinary medicine has undergone a lot of changes in recent years, not the least of which is the continual shift toward corporate owned and operated clinics. Often these clinics rely on protocols written by people in offices hundreds or even thousands of miles away. They use decision trees to diagnose and treat your pet like a tech support agent and an outsourcing call center would diagnose and fix a problem with a computer.

But KindVet is not corporate. We are a privately owned and operated clinic that knows your pet is not a machine with a serial number that can be rebooted, reformatted, or replaced. That is why we rely on our staff and doctors to make their own judgments based on your unique pet and its unique needs, according to their experience and knowledge of the specific conditions and needs of pets in this exact area of Florida.

We are not big shots in suits and ties sitting at a boardroom table. We are people like you who live in Sarasota and the surrounding area, and who keep our pets here. We know the challenges that come with the heat, the humidity, and the particular pathogens and diseases that we face in this area specifically.

Dr. Lori Nichols, Medical Director

Dr. Lori Nichols, Medical Director

Dr. Nichols has a special interest and passion in feline medicine and has helped with several rescue groups in the Tampa Bay area. Before vet school, she worked in construction management and obtained an undergraduate degree in architectural engineering from the University of Southern Mississippi.

She cohabitates with a varying number of non-rent-paying feline roommates and enjoys taking care of them. She has fostered many kittens over the years, and her dog, Poppy, gets along well with her kitty friends. She enjoys spending time with her husband, and they can usually be found supporting the heavy metal music scene in Tampa Bay or just hanging out at home with the cats. They’ve lived in St. Petersburg since 2019 and love going to the beach as much as possible!

Amanda Corzatt, Practice Manager

Amanda Corzatt, Practice Manager

Amanda has had a dynamic career in the veterinary, animal care, and animal welfare fields since completing an externship at C.R.O.W in early 2005, where she fell in love with the incredible flora and fauna and Florida. Since then, she has accumulated almost 20 years of professional experience in multiple veterinary and educational institutions, working with domestic animals, wildlife, farm animals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. As a Life Support Technician and Aquarist at Fresno Chaffee Zoo in California, she even had the opportunity to train sharks and stingrays! After two cross-county moves while earning her Master’s Degree in Biology through Miami University and San Diego Zoo Global, she finally made her dream of Florida living a reality in 2021. Amanda loves spending time in nature photographing wildlife, swimming in the Gulf, kayaking and paddleboarding, and hanging out with her two dogs, three cats, and two geckos.

Jessie Devaney, CSR Manager

Jessie Devaney, CSR Manager

Jessie Devaney is the CSR Manager at KindVet of Sarasota Urgent Care and has been with the clinic since March of 2024. Jessie has always had a love for animals, a trait passed down from her mother Heather Voege who trained service dogs with Canine Companions for Independence and was involved in animal rescuing and fostering. Growing up, Jessie was surrounded by animals and they have always brought such happiness to her life. Now, as an adult, she is surrounded with animals both at work and home! Jessie has a menagerie of her own, including dogs, cats, chickens, and a tortoise, and her dream is to have a farm one day with cows, goats, pigs, horses, emus, llamas, and more!

Professionally, Jessie started working with animals at the age of sixteen as a kennel tech for several years before going to college. She then became a stay at home mom for about fifteen years where she was responsible for keeping three girls alive and attempting to train them! Once her children were older, Jessie went to Southern Technical College while completing an internship at a shelter where she began working after graduation. These experiences led her to her current position at KindVet, which she plans to be her “forever place”!
